Getting Started with Ledger® | Official Site® | Ledgér.com/Start®
Welcome to the official Ledger® Start Guide. Whether you're new to crypto or an experienced investor, securing your digital assets is essential—and Ledger® makes it easy. Our hardware wallets are trusted by millions for their advanced security, ease of use, and seamless integration with the world’s most popular cryptocurrencies.
This step-by-step guide will walk you through setting up your Ledger® device, installing the Ledger Live® app, and securing your first crypto assets.
Step 1: Purchase Your Ledger® from the Official Source
To ensure your device is authentic and secure, only buy Ledger® hardware wallets directly from Ledgér.com/Start or authorized resellers listed on our website. Never purchase from unofficial third-party marketplaces.
We currently offer:
- Ledger Nano S Plus® – Affordable and powerful for beginners.
- Ledger Nano X® – Bluetooth-enabled and ideal for mobile users.
Step 2: Unbox and Verify Your Device
Once your device arrives:
- Inspect the tamper-proof packaging.
- Make sure the anti-tampering seal is intact.
- Do not use the device if packaging looks compromised. Contact Ledger Support immediately.
Inside the box, you’ll find:
- Your Ledger® device
- USB cable
- Recovery sheet
- Instructions
Step 3: Download and Install Ledger Live®
Ledger Live® is the official companion app used to manage your crypto securely. You can install it on Windows, Mac, Linux, or download the mobile version on iOS or Android.
Visit Ledgér.com/Start to download the latest version.
After installing:
- Open the app.
- Choose “Get Started.”
- Select your device model.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Step 4: Set Up Your Ledger® Device
- Connect your device via USB (or Bluetooth for Nano X).
- Select “Set up as new device.”
- Create a secure PIN code (4 to 8 digits).
- Carefully write down your 24-word recovery phrase on the provided recovery sheet.
Your recovery phrase is the only backup of your private keys. Store it safely offline, ideally in a fireproof and waterproof location. You can also consider a Cryptosteel Capsule or similar backup solution.
Step 5: Add Accounts & Manage Assets
In Ledger Live:
- Go to "Accounts" → "Add account".
- Select the cryptocurrency (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum).
- Verify and approve the connection on your device.
- Now you can send, receive, and manage your crypto securely.
Ledger supports over 5,000 coins and tokens, including:
- Bitcoin (BTC)
- Ethereum (ETH) + ERC20 tokens
- Solana (SOL)
- Binance Coin (BNB)
- Cardano (ADA)
- And many more
Use Ledger Live to:
- Check balances
- View transaction history
- Install new apps to your device
- Stake select cryptocurrencies
Step 6: Enhance Security
Ledger offers additional features to improve your asset security:
- Ledger Recover® (optional) – Secure recovery service to help protect your 24-word phrase.
- Passphrase protection – Add a 25th word for extra privacy (advanced users).
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) – Use with compatible third-party wallets or services.
- NFT support – Manage and view NFTs securely via Ledger Live with WalletConnect.
Step 7: Stay Updated & Secure
Security is at the core of everything we do at Ledger®. To stay protected:
- Always keep your device firmware updated via Ledger Live.
